Hi, I’m Kaitlyn “Kat” O’Donnell (they/them; she/her). I am both the Owner of and Senior Consultant for TransFormative Culture Consulting.

In 2015, my partner began his transition. Supporting him highlighted the multitude of barriers transgender and non-binary people face in daily life and at work, revealing just how much education is needed in our world.

Through this, "Cultural Humility with Transgender and Non-Binary Individuals" was born. What began as a one-hour presentation has since expanded into a customizable, interactive training program designed to meet the unique needs of diverse learners. Since 2016, I've had the privilege to offer this for organizations, including health systems and universities, and at conferences across the country.

Leveraging diversity, equity, & inclusion and organization development lenses, I also offer customized culture consulting. Following a comprehensive gender identity inclusivity assessment, organizational interventions may include leader development and education; policy, practice, and benefits evaluation and recommendations; and other process improvement strategies.

My subject matter expertise is rooted in professional and lived experience. I hold Executive Certificates in Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) and in Organization Development Consulting & Change Leadership from Georgetown University; a Master of Social Work from University of Maryland, Baltimore; and a Bachelor of Social Work and B.A. in American Studies from UMBC. I am also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in the Commonwealth of Virginia and was an honoree of the Washington Business Journal's 2024 LGBTQ+ Business Awards, recognized for advancing LGBTQ+ leadership and equality in the workplace and beyond.

Inclusivity matters - and yet there continue to be gaps in meeting the needs of certain marginalized communities. Those with diverse gender identities are one of these populations, and there is much work to be done to better serve these individuals as both clients and employees. This is where I come in.

My interactive training program shapes learners by providing foundational knowledge and terminology, tangible skills, and hands-on learning experiences, while my comprehensive culture consulting services create a sustainable pathway toward change. Together, we can build a culture of gender identity inclusivity.
